PRE AND POST NATAL MASSAGE
What is pre and post natal massage?
This treatment is catered towards women who are currently pregnant or have recently had a baby. Many changes occur during this magical time, and the every day demands of our modern society can leave pregnant women in poor physical and mental condition. Massage therapy for women both ante and post natal, has been done in many cultures for thousands of years. Massage can play a significant role in having a healthy relaxing pregnancy and a calm, content new baby as a result.
What to expect from your pre and post natal massage treatment
Massage can be easily adapted to fit the comforts of an expecting mother. This treatment is usually done with the woman laying on her side and prompted up by supports. It can also be done in a chair. Post natal massage is carried out pretty much the same as a regular treatment depending on each individuals needs. I use a variety of techniques such as effleuarage, petrissage, friction, vibration, and holds. Benefits of prenatal massage provide some relief in lower back pain, help strengthen the immune system, promote digestion, increases circulation, helps with odema if present and provides overall relaxation. In the early stages of pregnancy massage can provide relief from nausea and can be very supportive to the mother during these first few months of change.
What to expect during your pre and post natal massage appointment
Being a mother myself I know how important it is to have massage during and after pregnancy. We will do a consultation usually taking about 10-15 minutes depending on what you present to me. We will come up with a treatment plan suitable to your needs. Feel free to tell me if you want more or less pressure during your treatment. This is your treatment! After the massage I will provide after care advice.
